Sal, the host, still can't get my digital box to good sound levels, so performance did not go well, except for "Blue."

Sat. 1/14/2012. Tsunami Books. I went to my first open mic / poetry slam at Tsunami. I recited Wildweed & Solitary Existence Of A Daisy at the open mic (they give you a five minute limit). I only went for the open mic and wasn't intending to to the poetry slam, as I have never done one and am more interested in sharing than competition, but the manager of Tsunami, Scott, insisted I participate. I did Wildweed (they give you a one poem, three minute limit, with no props or music, just reciting or reading). I did good and got a judges' panel score of 92, but didn't make the finals.

Tues. 1/24/2012: Hot Mama's Wings. I performed three poems with djembe. 1- The Window Where You Look, 2- Like A Wet Rainbow and Numbolina Dances. Then I had a jam for my third performance with, drums: me, Carol, Jeff; also Jim on flute and Roscoe & Kim on guitars. Later in the night we did a jam with another guitar duo on their set, Josh and ?. They included drums: me, Carol on tamborine, Chelsea on Carol's conga, and another guy on my tam tams. We did four numbers (kind of reggea style).

Sat. 1/28/2012. I went to a poetry workshop at Tsunami Books given by local poets Ingrid Wendt and her husband Ralph Salisbury. After that they were hosting a birthday celebration for reknowned Oregon poet William Stafford. I got up and read one of Stafford's poems, "With Kit, Age7, At The Beach." Then I read one of the poems I created in the workshop, "He Spoke Truth To Power," which is about John Lennon.

Mon. 1/30/2012. Reality Kitchen. One song and one poem. 1- Joe Savage (guitar) & Danny Ingalls (djembe) and I performed "Blue." 2- Danny backed me on guitar as I recited Short Stories.

Tues. 1/31/2012. Hot Mama's Wings. Just me doing three poems, accompaning myself on djembe. 1- The Window Where You Look. 2- Wildweed. 3- Little Toy Gun.

I left early and went to Cozmic Pizza to hear Joe Savage play his set w/Danny Ingalls backing him up. At the end of his set, I got up and we did "Blue."
